Such a perfect Japanese experience. Loud, in your face, music, dancing, singing, and of course... Robots! If you are sensitive of flashing lights or loud music, this might not be for you. For anyone else though, well worth the money.
MoreThis place was amazing and full of such talented energy. I saw they were currently hiring, so if anyone in tokyo is interested, check them out! I will never forget my experience there!
MoreAbsolutely one of the funnest things I have ever witnessed / experienced in my life. Like taking blotter acid and watching an 80s musical with lasers. The performers are incredible, the songs hilarious and the guy selling Churros and Fried Chicken stole my heart. If I could give this show infinity stars out of 5 stars I would. Anyone who doesn’t enjoy this, is the sort of person that I would question why they went to Japan and especially The Robot Restaurant in the first place. When I paid for the ticket, I thought “that’s a fairly hefty price” and after the show I would happily pay for the show again and again!!!!
MoreI loved it! Tourist trap in the sense that they will try to sell u snacks and shirts and stuff and don’t allow any outside food but the show itself is so entertaining!! Never seen anything like this before. Performers are so lively and the stories are hilarious.Great show I’ll remember forever hahah.
MoreIf you visit Tokyo, you MUST visit this place.Crazy. Wacky. Hilarious. Entertaining. These are the words that come to mind when I think of this place. It's a show that consists of mini shows - all showcasing Japanese entertainment in its own unique way.Great fun for all ages and something you'll definitely remember for a long time.
MoreNot a total disaster but pretty close. Not sure why it's called a restaurant; the entire menu consists of fried chicken, ice cream and popcorn. Alcohol is heavily advertised and is a must have for adults, otherwise you won't last through the show. The show itself is extremely loud with lots of lights (three 15-20 minute mini-shows). Must be very interesting if you are an 8 year old, adults are either bored or drunk. The entire process takes 1.5-2 hours, though the showtime itslelf is less than an hour. Please note : the main floor is 4 levels below ground. PS. Considering 90% of customers are tourists and entire show is in English, does it qualify it as a tourist trap?
MoreThis was an amazing experience! This show was quite different to anything I have seen before. The seating was on each side of the stage and there were massive screens showing parts of the story of the show. The seating is very cramped too.Thinks to know before you go:- book early as tickets sell out;- be prepared for very loud music (bring ear protection);- there are lots of steps in and out of the venue;- they take visa but prefer cash;- you will be waiting around for close to an hour before the actual show starts but there are things such as souvenir, food and drink purchasing options to keep you amused for a bit. There was also a great acoustic music show (2 robots - one on guitar, one on saxophone).
MoreVisiting Robot Restaurant for their show is a must do while in Tokyo. It is an entertaining with a great show put together by some talented people. Bought the VIP tickets from Klook since it turned out to be cheaper. First of all, It is not a typical restaurant that you think you can sit and eat, and no there are no robots here. One can order food and drinks and sit and watch the performance. The venue of the show is different than the ticket collection centre. Can get a little tricky to find it. But the staff guide you.
MoreThe show is below expectations compared to its ticket price. Lots of famous people came and left their signatures. It is a good chance to find out who have visited, because it takes 15mins for me to exchange the reservation ticket to the entrance ticket. The snacks and drinks are costly and bring yourselves foods is not allowed.
MoreThe Robot Restaurant is a must! The staff are so fun and energetic. We didn’t actually order any food but had a couple of drinks. There are a ton of local food places around the venue. The entertainment is amazing! There are lasers, flashing lights, giant animals, robots, humans and so much energy! It’s family friendly. They provide ear protection/ noise reduction headphones for children if needed. I would highly recommend it!
MoreWell its different but see no need to do it again. It was not that special. Nothing outstanding about food.
MoreRobot Restaurant a famous place to go when you are in Tokyo! With all the neon lights and banner it is impossible not to see it while you are visiting Shinjuku! I would highly request to purchase your tickets in advance and to come a minimum 45min before the show actually starts so you won't require to queue to acquire the tickets. There isn’t much food to eat there. I would highly suggest to eat first or wait after the show. They do sell snack during each break if you are thirsty or hungry they are available. The show was quite surprising and unexpected. But this is just a show to watch once in your life. If you bring kids to ensure to bring a headphone which I think they may be able to provide as it is quite loud!
MoreProperly touristy. Feels like the objective was to create something as over the top and crazy as possible as that what tourists in Japan are expecting. The show was pretty much an indoor carnival parade with floats and people in wacky costumes. With loud music and strobe lighting. It was entertaining enough- not really 'high tech' at all like I was expecting. Had three 10-15 minute intervals where they tried to sell you stuff (included in the run time). The whole show was only about 45 mins. All in all it was OK, wouldn't really recommend for the price, and wouldn't go back.
MoreThe most touristy thing we did in Tokyo but still fun. Definitely a hefty price but where else can you do something like this? They absolutely try to get you to buy food, drinks, and souvenirs at every chance they get. Can’t speak on the food but drinks were good and pretty fairly priced actually. Get there early for your reservation - even if you have tickets ahead of time you have to go to a separate building to get your physical tickets and then you can go into the lounge area. Be careful of scammers in the area where the Robot Restaurant is located.
MoreThis was truly wacky and I kinda loved it. Some call it a "tourist trap" and I can understand that, pretty much everyone in the crowd was likely a tourist. In fact, I saw more tourists in one hour here than I had seen the entire prior week in Tokyo. The show was exceptionally entertaining, full of colour and spectacle. They do make you wait in one area for about 20-35min before you move into the showroom, but this passes pretty quickly as there is a bar and entertainment. Overall, we had a great time.
MoreI couldn't stop laughing the whole time. Top 3 best things I did in Japan. Please please go!
MoreThis is a really wild place to visit. It's a two hour show with robots, floats, dancing, singing, etc. It's so much fun. I got my ticket on Klook and I didn't get any extras, but you can get popcorn, drinks, a bento box, and ice cream if you like. They gave us a pen with their name on it, which is kind of fun. I recommend this to anyone visiting Tokyo, it really was a blast. I plan on coming back.
MoreDon’t even hesitate to buy your ticket, just do it! I don’t want to spoil the show by giving too many details, but it was an unreal experience and your eyes will be glued to the show the entire time!
MoreThe show started very well (first 45 mins), amazing visuals/ performers and music. Then it became boring. I think it was too lengthy. But overall, a cool experience. A must visit when in Tokyo.
MoreThe robot restaurant was an experience! I had a blast and so did my friend. It was definitely something really touristy to do but worth it. Laser, robots, dancing, and a story all mesh into a multi-part performance. One thing to take note if is that they do serve some food but it is recommended, and i recommend, to get food before hand.
MoreTouristy - yesAwesome - yesAlmost impossible to describe. This is so interesting.....a must do. Great customer service.
MoreThis is a must do for visiting Japan! First you go to a waiting area where robots perform music to you while you can enjoy a drink. You then go underground and watch a 4 part show with robots and fire breathing lizards! It's crazy and a lot of fun! It's called Robot Restaurant but it is actually a show. They serve food there but I wouldn't recommend getting it. Instead I would eat before or after somewhere in Kabukicho. These shows book out weeks ahead, so I would buy your ticket ahead of time!
MoreAfter being told this is a “must do in Tokyo” I left feeling a bit let down. Tickets are very expensive for what the show is, and while fun, there’s better ways to get that unique Tokyo experience. We were also disappointed with the “must arrive 30 minutes before the show” advice, only to be shunted in to a holding area so that they could sell us food and drink. Beware that the bars in the holding area all have different prices as well! The show is good, however it is very loud - I recommend earplugs for all! We had a fun night, but still can’t decide if I regretted asking for a plot line to appear halfway through though...
MoreI get the appeal but it's not my cup of tea. Pricey and borderline tacky. The performers put on a great show though.
MoreAmazing! Yes this place is a tourist trap but for good reason. If you're visiting the Shinjuku area and want to watch a great show then this place is to be. The show was awesome, and completely whacked out crazy. It is the most bizarre, show on Earth, which is a compliment. If I was ever in the area again, I would probably do it again, since they have seasonal shows.
MoreIt's all out crazy entertainment. Pre-show are song and dance routines with a mixture of singers and varying levels of quality but all entertaining. Once you get escorted to the basement the proper craziness begins and its excellent. It is a tourist trap and built to try and eke extra cash from you but get a few drinks and lean into the mayhem.
MoreBest tourist trap ever, would do it again in a heartbeat! Getting there AN HOUR prior to the show is also a must as there is an awesome dance-variety show great for preshow cocktails in a lively room perfect for setting the tone. It was true, at least for us, that is almost exclusively foreigners attending, but that is only because it is such a must for everyone who visits Tokyo. Some of it is a little hokey, sure, but the talent level of the performers is definitely nothing to scoff at. From the professional dancing to musicianship, it makes for a great live show even without the robot battles! Though the robot show part is over the top and a blast of course. Can’t wait to return when I take some more buddies to Tokyo. Enjoy!
MoreIt's definitely a tourist trap but the performers were energetic and the show was entertaining. I feel like we got our money's worth. Despite the name it's not a restaurant however food and drinks are available but overpriced. Be prepared for loud. Earplugs are definitely recommend and don't take away from the show. Plus your ears will thank you. Overall an enjoyable experience but if you are stretched for time I wouldn't put it on my must do list.
MoreThe show was insane, fun, awesome, and so memorable. Arrive an hour early for the pre-show- absolutely incredible! The cast is so talented. The pre-show is on the racy side, not really an environment for kids. There are snack bar type things available for sale, like popcorn and fried chicken, but we were glad we ate dinner beforehand.
MoreOver the top, flashy shows, especially great if you have front row seats. Bentos and drinks are on the pricier side, and would recommend you finish the food before the show actually starts as it gets dark and makes it really hard to eat while watching. The tickets itself are expensive as it's really a tourist trap, but still worth going if you have the time and funds to spare for this crazy yet entertaining show. If you reach early, there is a waiting room for guests which is quite nice if you do manage to get seats, with a 'robot' guitarist to play pretty good fingerstyle guitar.
MoreWords can't describe robot restaurant, so I won't even try. Magical insanity is the closest I've got. If you're on the fence about it, definitely go. Worth every penny
MoreFirst, a warning: the tickets state that you have to be there 30 minutes prior to the show. Amazingly we watched two different couples try to argue past this policy (one was 30 minutes late, one was later). Suffice to say they are very firm on this policy. This was a fun night. It is very much pandering to the English speaking audience but still it was a lot of fun. I would imagine this would be a great show to see high, lots of neon and bright lights and dancing. You are all packed like sardines into seats on two sides of an avenue where the performers move through. There are 4 segments to the show, each unrelated. They do sell food in each intermission.Lots of fun and a great way to get into the spirit! Definitely worth a try (not sure I'd ever do it again though).
MoreLoved this experience in Shinjuku. I would highly recommend if visiting in the area. The music, costumes, robots and dancers are awesome. If you have kids it might be too loud for them, so they provide headphones if needed. Take your camera and grab some photos. Well worth the price. I purchased the tickets online from Klook which is around 10% cheaper and faster check-in to the venue.
More4 - star for waiting because it's small cramp and extremely stuffy in winter. There are very little seats too. 5 - star for performance. I LOVE these types of performance. Using technology as props. Children are given ear mufflers if they find it too loud. Every performance has a story to tell and it's great that they made it easy to understand too.
MoreThis was probably one of the best experiences in Japan. I really enjoyed everything about this show. Excellent music and dancers. The robots are impression and all of the staff are super friendly. If you are travelling, most of them speak English. If you're going to Japan, this is a must and well worth the price.
MoreI think this is something that everyone has to do before dying. Best experience ever, for every ages!I suggest to go an hour before the show in order to have perfect seats. Go there and enjoy it!!!
MoreThis unique 'Restaurant' is a very popular tourist destination - the audience during our session was 90% Australian/American. While it was definitely out of the ordinary, half of the show was about the performances while the other half was promotions for food and merchandise. Let me clarify - it is not a 'restaurant' in the conventional sense. There is food available, but it is not where I would recommend you have dinner as the portions sizes for the meals were very small and we did better with the popcorn. It was a fun experience, and definitely something I'd never seen the likes of before. The performers were energetic and the robots impressive. It just didn't have the wow factor I was expecting!
MoreSuper fun show. I avoided going here on past Tokyo trips because I figured it was too touristy, but it's legitimately a really cool experience. Robots + lasers + fantastically enthusiastic performers + alcohol is a great combination. Maximum stoke. One thing I would not recommend is paying for the "upgraded" seating. There are only three rows of seats on each side of the stage and no one is blocked by the row in front of them. Therefore the VIP upgrade felt like a very unnecessary upsell. Besides that the base price is worth the experience.
MoreSuper fun experience but on a pricey side. We had ordered our tickets online and had no issues with confirmation. Actually we did other things before the show and had quite a bit of time to wait for the show so we had asked if we could go to the earlier show and that wasn't a problem. All in all, I would recommend this show to anyone visiting Tokyo. Crazy, fun and something that you won't experience anywhere else!!!
MoreThe show was definitely extremely unique. The preshow is definitely worth it to catch. The price is a bit hefty especially considering the food wasn't included. Not that I minded too much because the options looked mediocre at best. Enjoy the show but save your appetite for something nearby!
MoreLoved the robot show! Worth the visit! Definitely a must on your list. They have a performance of musicians before the actual show it's pretty neat, there is also snacks you can purchase before and during intermission. We went during Halloween and got to see the Halloween performance so it was pretty cool!
MoreI mean, it's absolutely a tourist trap. But it's the best kind of tourist trap -- the one that is just plain fun. For a pretty reasonable price you get super up close and personal with some fairly neat robotics, and there's more than enough lazers to go around. Not recommended for epileptic folks or boring people.
MoreThere are flashing lights, robots fighting, cute girls and alcohol. My son absolutely loved it. He is 4. Make sure you get ear muffs for your child, it is a bit loud. The drinks and food looked good, but we only had popcorn a coke, and beer. I'm not sure if I would want to eat there. The famous prefect of Shinjuku, where it is located is a bit sketch. The show is in a seedy area of town, so be smart and keeps your wits about you. I didn't feel unsafe, but I did notice that there was a change in the demeanor of the people around me.A word of advice, if you take the JR train to do things, make sure you know which exit is the closest and don't just get off in Shinjuku because it has the same name as the area you are going too. We got off and ended up having to cab it... when two more stops on the train would have put us right at the destination or at least closer.
More“1 out of 5 stars, too many humans not enough robots”.... just joking! This is such an incredibly fun and unique show! Just come and see it, you’ll have an amazing time I promise. These performers do this show many times a day. It’s insane. They have such high energy levels, I love it! Plus there is an element of humor to it since it’s very ridiculous. Is the plot of the show very good? No. It’s completely ridiculous. But that’s how I like it! Come book a show in advance and see what I’m talking about!
MoreVery good and entertaining show. It could get a bit too loud so make sure you get your headset when the staff offers it. We had a great time there. 100% Recommendation.
MoreEPIC. crazy good fun. This was a bit of a mayyyybe for us initially when we thought about going - BUT - it ended up being a trip highlight! Totally recommended!
MoreThis has got Japanese quirky written all over it. One of the strangest performances I have ever witnessed. Was like watching anime in real life. If you go plan to eat either before or after. Contrary to the name, I wouldn’t really class this as a restaurant. You can buy snack food there. The words from my 16 year old niece “this was a brilliant show and worth watching”
MoreIf you expect a coherent plot, engaging character development, or perfect stagecraft then this is not for you. Many times I wondered what was going on. Instead you will get a piece in four acts that is filled with loud music, lasers, pyrotechnics, dance and of course robots (occasionally with their human operators visible). It was a lot of fun and I recommend the experience. However, the food and drink is massively overpriced, even by Tokyo standards.
MoreThis place is a must do!! It's such a crazy and fun atmosphere and an experience you'll never forget. We did this on the last night of a long trip through Japan and it was absolutely one of the highlights.
MoreThis is a great experience whilst in Tokyo, I would say a must do. I recommend to buy your tickets online as you can get a good price and it’s likely to sell out. I went only for the show and not the combination tickets, I’d also recommend this as there is great food elsewhere and they sell drinks and snacks during the show. It’s in a bit of a bustling red light area which adds to the vibe. It’s a sensory overload, weird and wonderful… you’ve got to experience it for yourself! p.s. you will have the theme song stuck in your head for a while after
